I thought it’d be fun to make a little Travel Wishlist for the year ahead of me. My top goal for 2017 was to travel more, and so far, I’ve been to Montana once… and the coast once or twice. It’s time to put myself out there. I’ve been taking so much joy in photography and videography lately. I love being in new places, and I’m really excited to see what the rest of the year has in store!
So here’s a random list of places I’d like to see this year. I’ve included a little must-do to hopefully inspire some of you to travel to these places as well. Please let me know if you’ve been to or are from any of these destinations! I’d love any input you might have!
I’ve never actually been to Crater Lake, but I’ve always wanted to go. It’s just a short drive from Portland, and I’ve heard the sights and sounds are beautiful. While I’m there, I must get “The Shot”. You know the one. I’m not a hiker, by any means, but if it means seeing that amazing view, I guess I’m all in.
When I was a freshly-graduated 18-year-old, my best friends and I made a trip out to Oregon. We managed to drive from Astoria down to Newport on winding roads through the old 101. I’d love to make it all the way down to the south coast. My must-do list would be to visit those southern coastal towns I’ve never been to, Bandon, Coos Bay, etc.
Although I have been to Bend, it’s been years! I always hear such amazing things about this Central Oregon city, especially from my cousin, and I would love to visit. I hear it’s gorgeous, but my must-do would probably be to visit Deschutes Brewery. Would I be a Portlander without an appreciation for Craft Beer?
United States, but Out-of-State
I had to start this list would the closest, most-realistic place for me to visit. Seattle! A big city, less than 3 full hours from me, I have visited Seattle ONCE since I moved out here. That’s it! Of course, I went for a once-in-a-lifetime One Direction concert, but I haven’t been back since. And I think this is my year. I’m going to try to convince one of my girlfriends to take me. Girls weekend in Seattle? I think yes. My must-do is obviously Pike’s Market, although I would also love to explore more of Downtown Seattle, or maybe see the Sound.
Happy birthday, #Glacier National Park (@glaciernps)! On May 11, 1910, President William Taft signed a bill into law establishing the country’s 10th #nationalpark. #Montana’s Glacier protects glacier-carved peaks and valleys, pristine turquoise lakes and streams, and dense ancient forests for all to enjoy. As a Montana native, I’m shocked that I’ve never made the trip up to Glacier. I’ve heard so many amazing things about it over the years, but with Billings being at such close proximity to Yellowstone, we always just went there. Well this year, I’m dragging Sean or my mom or someone to Glacier. My must-do is obviously Going-to-the-Sun-Road. I mean, jaw-dropping, right?
I haven’t been to Denver since I was 16, and that time, I really couldn’t take my time to check out the city. My dad lives there (part time) right now, and I’d love to visit him and make me take him to his favorite Speak Easy and taco spots! I just think it would be a blast. My must-do for me is obviously the 16th Street Mall. Although, I’d also love to sit a mile high at the capitol! It is the Mile High City, after all!
One of my best friends recently moved to San Francisco, and before she headed that way, I didn’t think I had any interest in the city. I mean, yes, SF has always been home of Full House and street cars, but I never really looked into the culture before Rochelle moved. And now, suddenly, I HAVE to visit her. A huge must-do for me would be to visit Japantown. They have amazing stationery stores there, which I obviously need to check out. I also need to take selfies in front of every amazing mural I pass by.
Sean and I are discussing Hawaii for our honeymoon in July! I went to Maui last May, and it was the most relaxing and amazing experience of my life. I honestly think about it every single day. I’m ready to go back. A must-do for me would be learning to paddle board! Or practicing my snorkeling skills. Or, without a doubt, some much-needed R&R.
Vancouver isn’t even a day’s car ride from Portland. And the numerous Canadian tourists I’ve run into have told me it’s essentially our twin city. Just bigger. And more Canadian. What more do I need to know? I’d love to visit Vancouver. I think a must-do for me might be to face my fear of bridges on the Capilano Suspension Bridge… we’ll see though.

Okay, so all of you will know that it’s been my dream to visit England since I was a small child, reading Harry Potter aloud in my bedroom using accents and flicking a pencil through the air as a wand. Of course, I’d love to make this trip happen this year, but I don’t know how likely that is. I still wanted to add it to my wishlist! My must-do for England, besides everything, would probably to visit Oxford Circus in London. I know, going all the way across the pond to go to a shopping mall sounds ridiculous, but just trust me on this one. I need to go.
And that sums up my travel wishlist for 2017. Where are some destinations you plan on adventuring to this year? Let me know! And let me know if you’ve been to any of the above locations! What should I put on my itinerary?
Thanks, as always, for reading
