This autumn, I’m inspired by the crunching leaves at my feet. I wish to cling to the warmth of ruby reds, pumpkin oranges, and golden yellows. I’m dreaming of cabins by the coast and cozy, faux-fur blankets. My hands itch to knit a chunky knit sweater or hat or scarf or socks. I want the cool, Oregon fog to settle along the Willamette, blocking my path and sticking to my windshield as I drive to grandma’s in the late evening after my shift at work. I want to spend this autumn reading my favorite stories and flipping through Wedding magazines. I want to drink spiked cider with my best friends and play board games until our cheeks tingle with laughter and spirits. I want to camp out in my car, curled up against Sean as we breathe in the chilled morning air and dream about the future we’ll have. I want to wear a matching jumbo-sized scarf to my mom and take a million selfies on our way to my bridal fitting. I want to curl up in flannel and watch Lord of the Rings by candlelight while the scent of pumpkin spice and tobacco fills my living room. I want to stare out of café windows, inspired by the rainy world outside, and write my blog and my novel and finally focus on the life I’ve been lusting after for years.
